About

Safe, Actually helps ordinary people make clearer decisions about digital-protection products and services.

The focus is simple: what works, what does not, what it really costs, and which option makes the most sense for a particular device, use case, or problem.

Who Runs Safe, Actually

Safe, Actually is run by me, Riz Kalid.

I research the products, perform hands-on testing where I can, review the evidence, make the editorial decisions, and publish the content.

I also use AI tools to assist with parts of the research, organization, writing, data handling, and production process.

AI does not replace genuine testing or make the final recommendation for me.

What I Cover

Safe, Actually starts with VPNs, but the site is built around broader consumer digital protection.

Topics may include:

  • VPN services
  • antivirus software
  • malware and device-protection tools
  • identity-protection services
  • privacy-protection tools and services
  • password managers
  • account-security tools
  • scam and fraud-protection tools
  • personal-data removal and privacy services
  • browser and online-security tools
  • other consumer cybersecurity software and services that help ordinary people protect their devices, accounts, privacy, identity, and online activity

The site focuses on consumer products and services.

It does not cover enterprise cybersecurity, penetration testing, hacking tutorials, security operations, coding, or unrelated tech news.

How I Evaluate Products

I do not base recommendations on marketing claims alone.

Depending on the topic, I may use:

  • my own hands-on testing
  • current product information
  • independent testing and research
  • privacy policies and audits
  • user-reported experiences from sources such as Reddit, forums, review platforms, and app stores
  • current pricing and renewal terms

My own test results are part of the evidence, not the entire verdict.

You can read the full process on the How I Test page.
